AKO Pinch Valves: Metalworking and Foundries

In metalworking and foundries – from steel and light metals to non-ferrous and precious metals – abrasive moulding sand and metal granulate occur alongside aggressive media such as acidic process water or coolants. AKO pinch valves convince with their robust, replaceable sleeve, which withstands both sharp-edged sand and corrosive liquids without sensitive internal valve parts coming into contact with the medium.
Typical applications
- Flux dosing in submerged arc welding
- Sand feed in the production of casting moulds
- Conveying of metal powders and granulates
- Control of acidic process water in steel production
- Control of coolant circuits
Recommended AKO series
- AKO VMC (multi-connection, DN25-150) – low-wear stainless steel version, proven for frequent switching cycles such as in submerged arc welding
- AKO VF (flange, DN40-300) – large nominal sizes for robust sand and granulate conveying in foundries
- AKO VM (female thread, DN10-50, PVC) – simple, cost-effective solution for secondary processes with lower requirements
Case study
A manufacturer of light-alloy wheels repeatedly had wear problems with aluminium pinch valves from another supplier caused by welding flux particles. AKO supplied stainless steel pinch valves of the VMC series (DN32) with a resistant sleeve, designed for 450 to 600 switching cycles per day in submerged arc welding – considerably more durable and lower-maintenance than the previous solution.
